A Masculine Birthday!

A big hello to all of you and hope you are doing well! It will shortly be my Grandson's Birthday and so I thought a fun masculine tag was in order!

Steampunk, Paperboy and Secretary Pool all stamps from Artistic Outpost were stamped in Black Archival directly to the tag. Each of the four areas were masked off and then inked over with Tumbled Glass and then I flicked on some water.

Next with the masking still over the stamped areas, I stamped the text from Paperboy using Dove Grey from Stazon, shaded the edges with Vintage Photo and using a toothbrush flicked on some Vintage Photo Stain.  Distressed the edges and stained the tie. No metal as this will be going on an airplane and no need to be screened! Keeping it simple!

Books Blog Hop at Artistic Outpost

The February blog hop theme is "Books" at Artistic Outpost and with so many lovely stamps sets that fit the theme, I decided to add to my newly started Travel Journal with a couple of pages! For more inspiration and great art, be sure to visit all of the talented DT.

I have already admitted that I am on shaky ground where journaling is concerned and am not sure what I am doing. For this being my journal with my life, I decided to go with the flow and make it mine and in my style. Over Valentine's Day we went to Portland, OR where my daughter and grandson now live. Not that February is the time of year to visit the City of Roses (and lots of rain), but Holly's birthday is also in that month and that weekend worked out for all of us. As it turned out, the weather was totally gorgeous with no rain at all!

The background started with painting on  Distress Stains (Broken China, Peeled Paint, Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain) and spritzing water to blend. Next I added texture using modeling paste and also Distress inks through various stencils.

Using the Airplane from Industrial Backgrounds our flight begins and using various words from Huck Finn, so appropriate for traveling, where stamped in Black Archival.

I cut apart the Alpha block stamp letters from the Secretary Pool for PORTLAND. Next to finish the on route page, I painted the Alpha Part, added some rubs, colored and cracked my world!

The next page was designed for our arrival.

The roses were cut from Tim's Wallflower paper, fussy cut and crackled as after all Portland is the City of Roses.

The tickets were cut, inked and I added some Broken China through a stencil. The sentiment is from the Typography collection.

When in Portland there are many wonderful restaurants and using the new release The Baker, I stamped her on a 7 Gypsies tag, which of course was inked first and stamped in Coffee Archival. I water colored in some of pans for interest. I wanted her to pop a little, so kept ink away from her and the bread dough. 

On the back I will note the restaurants we did visit. 

Finished it off with a few butterflies and a lattice trim stained and crackled.

Crazy Enough

Thank you for taking the time to visit today and I hope you are doing well. Did you make New Year Resolutions for 2015? I am always curious about that as I will make a few and then somehow I put them on the back burner! Inspiration Emporium's January's challenge is "Fresh Start" with the sky is the limit and no restrictions and so we are taking are first AO inking of 2015 over there!

I wanted this to be all vintage and masculine, so went with all neutral colors and of course mostly brown. The images I used are from Generation Redux, Secretary Pool, and Chalkboard Wisdom and were all collaged together.

Making backgrounds for focal images is always something I enjoy doing. Using the background (dots) image, I stamped this on ivory colored paper using Black Archival and then inked over with Vintage Photo and shaded with Black Soot and then I distressed the edges and torn in a few places. The Alpha Block background was first stamped using more of the dots and clear embossed and then the Alpha was stamped using Coffee Archival on to a lighter colored kraft card stock, then a few more dots and numbers using Black Archival.

The gentlemen were stamped in Black Archival and then inked over with Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap, shaded in Black Soot. Added the photo corners and cut apart the Chalkboard sentiment and there you have it. In brief, the Bluebirds were stamped and cut out using Vintage Labels an ODBD die, shaded and embossed. The sentiment was stamped cut and placed on chipboard and then the "Fly" was also cut away. The background panel was stenciled using Tim's doily and a piece of trellis cut from burlap. For my card I decided to use the lovely working girls from the Paperboy collection and teaming them up with stamps from the Secretary Pool and Quote and Quotables. The card size is a standard A2 and all the panels were stamped using Black Archival, heat set and then inked with Distress Inks, Walnut Stain, Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap, Rusty Hinge. Again I get so carried away that I forgot to take pictures of the background panels before assembly, but you all get the idea. I also spritzed and flicked water on all panels and then gave a little flick of Rusty Hinge stain using a toothbrush.

The girls image was lightly inked with Tattered Rose and Spun Sugar and I added some corners. Don't they look like after working that 9 to 5 job that they are ready to break a few rules? Well I believe so! I worked as a secretary/office manage for many years and I know what TGIF means!

Paperboy Seeks Sweetheart!

It is the first Blog Hop of 2014 for Artistic Outpost and it is designers choice, so stop by and visit all the DT members for some wonderful art! There is also a good week left to join in the January Referral Program for a chance to win a gift certificate and be amount the Top Three.

I decided to go with a little "LOVE" interest with Valentine's Day fast approaching and had lots of fun mixing the Paperboy, Secretary Pool and Apothecary stamps!

An 8x6 inch canvas was covered with burlap fabric and I masked off the edges and applied red paint for a frame. The corrugated cardboard packaging was slightly splattered with some red paint and shaded around the edges.

The "Love" was stamped and individually cut (love that alpha stamp).

Hearts were painted and crackled. Oh yes a sunny day, so a little shinny!

Doesn't the Paperboy look quite at home on the label space for the love potion bottle?

The heart was a leftover piece I had cut to use for a mask which was covered in paint, distressed and then the "sweethearts" were stamped along with a little bit of sweetness!

I Can See Clearly Now!

OK not really, but at least I can find my glasses case!  For a long time I have wanted to alter the many cases I have and this has laid around with a crackle finish and those Steampunky eyes for several weeks.  Today we decided it would be a good day to finish what was started!

So here is why I did!  I used the SteamPunk and Secretary Pool stamp plates from Artistic Outpost and everything was stamped on tissue paper and cut out, using Archival and heat set!  The block letters are all from one stamp and after I heat set, I colored the reverse side with Distress Markers.  I did give this a quick spray of Matt Sealer to avoid any running once I glued these down with a gel medium.  I was wanting a collage of letters, so these were just randomly placed.  After I was happy, I gave this another coat of gel medium and then a coat of matt varnish!   I am also linking this up to The Cheerful Ink Pad's "Anything But a Card" challenge!

Dress To Impress!

Happy Wednesday to you all!  It is my turn to post at Artistic Outpost, so I would love it if you would stop by there and say "Hello."   This will be my first time participating in a challenge at DragonsDream Tag It On.  I follow a couple of the DT members and when I saw the theme, oh how I knew this would be fun!  It gave me a great excuse to ink up my new Artistic Outpost "Secretary Pool" stamps and go with the the TIO "Dress To Impress" challenge.  A little bit about me and why I relate to the challenge and of course those fabulous stamps!  I was a Secretary/Office Manager and had to have nice clothes.  I learned to sew as a teenager and started making my own clothes and out of necessity as a 9:00 to 5:00 kind of gal, continued sewing.  Now onto the tag!

I love this stamp set and there are so many possibilities for making your own backgrounds with the images.  I seldom use designer paper, because I just have too much fun making backgrounds.  I took the Alphabet Block stamp and with Black Archival stamped to cover the tag and then heat set, before masking and inking on the various Distress Inks!  Pretty cool background!  For the yellow background tag, I just stamped the paper clip along the edge for a little interest!

The Typewriter, Phone, Pencils were stamped with Black Archival and clear embossed and shaded and yes, fussy cut and that includes the phone cord!  Yikes!  Used some pretty laces that Lynne had gifted to me to decorate the dress form.  Used Mustard Seed stain to color the ribbon.
