Make It A Tag!

Since it was my turn to host at Frilly and Funkie, I decided to go with the theme of "Make It A Tag" in the spirit of Christmas, Holiday Season or Winter!  The Frilly DT have already had a go at this and now the Funkie DT is showing off their tags, so go have a look for great inspiration and join in all the festive fun!  There is a $25.00 gift certificate to The Funkie Junkie Boutique, which is redeemable once Linda reopens the store and a chance to display the winner's badge!  This is the last challenge of the year and I sure hope to see you there!

I started out with Tim's, December 12 Tags of 2012 in mind and went with the tag in which he used the Poinsettia die, which I absolutely love!  Well after I finished with that, I thought I better do the other tag!  No extra time available, as I still have Christmas shopping, but could not resist!  For tag #1,  I pretty much followed Tim's instructions.  I used a smaller tag, so die cut the ticket, inked it up and stamped with black Archival.  This was mounted on the Christmas Kraft resist, which I colored in the holly leaves and berries using an applicator.  I colored the belt and harness on the reindeer using Metallic stain.  This tag was made for my DT project at Frilly and Funkie, but like I said, I could not resist making the second tag!!

Tag #2 is for CC2C #33 and Linda has us getting sticky with "Tissue Tape" on page 36 of Tim's book and Simon Says Stamp is the sponsor with a $25.00 gift certificate.  Can't tell you about the technique, but I can tell you to buy the book and for the snowman stamped on the ornament, Tim covers that quite nicely on his blog!  I can tell you that I used quite a bit of "Broken China" (ink, marker and stain) on my collaged tissue tape background and snowman!  Oh I almost went blind coloring in that tiny little hat!  This tag with "Joy" in mind will also be linked up to the "Inspiration Journal" for the "Joyful Creations" challenge.
On a personal note!  I have to get moving on Christmas and did finish the last of my cards, which need to be mailed by tomorrow!  I went to Portland, OR for only a few days.  We had decided that the pets are getting too old to leave with others, so hubby stayed home!  To make a long story short, that old bird of mine must have pouted and did not eat hardly at all!  He seemed a little mopey when I returned, but by morning my hubby told me it did not look good!  It did not look good at all!  I spent the entire Wednesday holding this old bird, Fred and believed he would pass.  Birds don't lay down.  It took a few days and he got a little better and now he is back to where he was.  One more day and I am sure he would not have made it, but I am happy he will be here for another Christmas!

With this being such a busy time of year, I am even more thankful that you would take the time to visit me and comment!  I wish you all a Merry Christmas and the best of the holiday season!

A Little Christmas Time!

Yes, I wanted to do Halloween!  It took every once of strength to keep me away from all the ghoulish thoughts, but I decided to go ahead with Christmas for CC2 #24 and Tim's "October - 12 Tags of 2012."  That lovely lady at Studio L-3 has us hitting the bottles again for technique #24, Alcohol Resist!  OK, Alcohol Ink Resist on page 59!  I used this technique on both the tag and card.  Out of respect to Tim, we can only tell you how fun these challenges are and to get the book!   Last week I was the lucky winner of Linda's CC2 #23 package of goodies provided by Mario!  How exciting is that?  Big thank you again, Linda!  That lady surely does rock!
I did a tag for Tim's challenge and a card for Linda's!  For Tim's tag, I pretty much followed his instructions, but changed up the theme and colors.  The edges of the tags were inked with the Silver dabber paint, as were the ornament tops.  For the card, I followed the instructions on page 52.  The background was embossed and then I ran a white craft ink pad over the top and clear embossed.
Currently at The Funkie Junkie Boutique, all seasonal Stampers Anonymous stamps are an additional 15% off through Thursday, so take a look!  Don't forget that Linda already has prices marked below MSRP, so this is a real treat!

ICE CREAM Colors at FSC!

With this Summer heat, what a great challenge theme at Fashionable Stamping Challenges!  Yes, we are looking for some cool and dreamy stamping for our "Summer-Ice Cream Colors" challenge!   Stop over for a visit at FSC to see what flavors my DT Sisters have served up!  Oh and you can say hello to our newest Fashionette, Esther!  There will be a prize for the winner from Cottage Crafts, so come join in!  My "Ice Cream" colors would be strawberry, chocolate and peaches in cream!  The picture I used is from a recent meeting with a blog friend and FSC DT Sister, Brenda!  What a great day!

The idea for my tag was based Tim's "August 12 Tags of 2012," so you can stop over there for more details.  As usually, I had to improvise on a couple of items!  I did not have a framed stamped, so I cut a frame and stamped it with a wood grain background stamp of Tim's, using Walnut Stain.  I clear embossed this and then ink distressed using Tattered Rose and Dried Marigold, then edged in Walnut Stain.  The tag background once embossed, was painted on with a mix of Copper Paint Dabber and Deco Art White Pearl.  I wanted a more peachy color!  Simon Says Stamp and Show is Paint It Up, and Lisa's Blogger's Challenge is "Add Texture," so we are headed over there as well.   I then inked over this painted tag with Antique Linen.  Now for the flowers - BIG improvising here!  Really BIG!  I do not have that die, never thought I would use it for pine cones and I don't often add flowers.  Well, I came up with an idea and maybe someone else has also.  I cut one of the flowers from the Tattered Floral die, punched out a circle in the center and then cut through between two of the petals and then proceeded with Tim's instructions.  What I ended up with are baby roses and I like them!  I really do!  My DH was quite impressed with my brain wave, but I think more that I did not make a purchase!  Ha!  For my flowers and leaves, I ran them through the paper crimper several times.  I like how flexible this makes them!  Also these were stamped with a background stamp from Impression Obsession, but between all the crimping, inking and rolling, you don't see it!  The lower Stamping UP sentiment was stamped on Vellum with Archival Coffee and cut to fit the tag edge.  I added an edging of paint to that as well and in areas along the tag.  The ticket stamp is from Tim and that sentiment is from Innovative Stamp Creations.

Hope you are enjoying the weekend!  It is super hot here!  Thank you so kindly for stopping by and taking the time to comment!

Happy 4th of July!

The "Funkie" side of Frilly and Funkie now has their turn at "Let's See Some Texture."  We are looking for different materials to create texture, with "fabric" being an optional twist.  If you are frilly or if your are funkie, there is a place for you!  Stop by Frilly and Funkie for more inspiration from both DT sides and remember there is a nice prize to be won at The Funkie Junkie Boutique!  We can't wait to see how you combine different textures, materials and fabric, so come join us.
Since I knew this would post on July 4th, I wanted to keep my project with a Patriotic theme.  Not to mention that I could not wait to play with my new "Word Play" die!  Then I saw Mr. Tim's, July 12 Tags of 2012, the "fireworks" went off.  This will also be linked up to Lisa's Blogger's Challenge, "Celebrate the 4th"  and Inspiration Journal, "Red, White and Blue."
For my "fabric letters," which were cut from an old denim blouse, I adhered a two way adhesive sheet to grunge paper, peeled off the protective layer and applied my denim.  The tie was also cut from a denim strip and the stamped with Tim's stars in Stampin Up Craft White and then I heat set with White Embossing Powder.  All denim edges were shaded with Faded Jeans.  I also cut a second group of letters in black chipboard and offset the denim letters just a little.  Pretty much for the July background, I followed Tim's instructions for July.  The tag background was inked with Barn Door and Faded Jeans, all tag edges distressed and shaded with Vintage Photo.  The fireworks is a stamp from Scrolls Work Stamps (now closed) and this was embossed with Ranger's Black Sparkle.   Added a little Stickles to the fireworks center.
For those that celebrate the 4th of July, have a wonderful and safe time!  We will be off to our friends for a 4th BBQ, which is now a tradition!   Thank you so much for stopping by!  Spell Check is so not working for me, it is just not on!  Oh well, I know there are a few of you out there pretty upset with Blogger!
