CC#3C - Marbling

Well here we are at lesson #1 - CC#3C Marbling. The lovely Linda Ledbetter and the Curiosity Crew certainly have taken us on one fun and fabulous ride! Isn't that one incredibly talented crew? Marbling is not a strong point of mine and I do try. The effect I end up with a nice and subtle and I can live with that. To know all about the technique, turn to page 43 of Tim's Compendium of Curiosities III. My paints of choice were Vintage Photo, Antique Linen, Broken China and  Tarnished Brass. As I made two backgrounds, I went ahead and made two projects.

For the tag, I stamped that wonderful sentiment in Black Archival and the clear embossed, along with using Tim's heart stencil and inking with Black Soot and clear embossing. 

Colored in the banner with a little Broken China.

Applied black paint, which was rubbed off and a little sanding and then I cut a blue circle and added a decent amount of Glossy Assents in the center to push through and fill the "F." Added some sweet little letters and I do believe this will be a birthday tag for my hubby's B-day in June!

Using more new stamps from Tim, all images were stamped using Sepia Archival on the Postage stamp and I cut another using the square movers and shapers to cut a frame and tied it all up. Simple card, but sweet! The backgrounds painted, inked and spritzed.

A New Road!

This is the first time I have used the Windows and Doors collection and just love them and thought it was so appropriate for all avenue AO will be traveling. This vintage old door is so inviting and along with the sentiment was stamped using Wendy's Watering Can Archival ink. I wanted a softer feel and chose to not go with black ink. Will also link this up to Inspiration Journal's "A Few of My Favorite Things" AO and Tim, you know it and Simon Says Stamp Monday "Big Stamp."



I used sponge applicators to add Vintage Photo, Fired Brick, Peeled Paint and Shabby Shutters for coloring the bricks and foliage and the door with Antique Linen.

The sentiment was inked with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo and of course distressed. For the tag background, I inked over Tim's Lattice stencil with Distress inks of the previous colors and added a few rub-ons for fun!

Tim's April Tag 2014!

Hello and Happy Easter, well in just a few hours! Here is my take on Tim's April fabulous tag and for all the details, you know where to go. I will also link this up to Inspiration Journal's "A Few of My Favorite Things" and of course that is pretty much anything Tim!

First off I apologize for forgetting to add the little Framework inserts! I took all the photos and it became too dark when I was on Facebook and noticed a few blogger friends tag and I could not believe it! Well they will be going in, but not until after Easter.

Pretty much I followed all the guidelines, but not being a real flower girl, I only made one and added a flower girl stamped on Acetate and on the reverse side colored her eyes and lips with Sharpie markers.

The rose was cut from Tim's Kraft-Core and the leaves from a leftover piece and added to grunge for strength, inked and shaded.

And all finished off with some twine. I always back my tags so I can write on them at a later time. The ribbon at the top was inked with remaining inks from the applicator.

This was the beginning and what a blast I had. The first day I saw April's tag, I knew exactly what I was going to use, but was not sure how! Don't you love Classics 11?

Paris In Springtime!

Here we are with Challenge #3 at A Vintage Journey and the theme is "A Bit of French," chosen by the talented Astrid! All of the DT has so much "Tim" inspiration to share with you on our French journey, so be sure to visit! There is a prize from Country View Crafts for one lucky winner, so come on and join in with your vintage, grungy and fabulous projects and show us your Tim style!.

I decided my project would be a journey to Paris via my imagination for the time being and of course Tim was my guide! I first started with an 6 x 8 inch canvas, painted the edges black (did not want any white to show through), covered the canvas with Vintage Shabby paper which was inked over with Peeled Paint, Salty Ocean and Antique Linen. Inked with Brushed Corduroy over my new Doily Layered Stencil, finished off the edges with Tissue taped (mitered the corners) and shaded. Will also journey on over to Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge "Anything Goes" and Inspiration Journal's "A Few Of My Favorite Things" and obviously that would be Tim's stamps, dies, stencils, inks and embellishments and Paris or France at The Kraft Journal!

Using clear embossing ink and powder, along with some Black Soot, I stamped various images from the Paris to London set and created the inky background with Salty Ocean, Peeled Painted and Brushed Corduroy. Distressed the edges and shaded with Vintage Photo and Black Soot.

Using more of Tim's papers, I stamped some butterflies on the post card along with some inking and distressing, fussy cut a butterfly which color was added using markers and shaded in black.

Crowded Attic (letter print) was the background paper for my Eiffel Tower, embossed with the Eiffel Tower Texture Fade and highlighted the raised areas and shaded. This was placed on chipboard and finished off with a metal spinner and flower aiming for the Heart of Love, cut from grunge and inked in Brushed Corduroy, shaded in black.

And of course the Eiffel Tower needed the perfect place to stand upon and that would be the Alpha Tiles shaded in black.

The adorable Parisian man was fussy cut after being stamped in coffee Archival and lightly colored with Antique Linen and Tattered Rose.

A Ticket was stamped on kraft paper in black Archival, die cut and edged. What French themed project would be complete without a Fleur de lis painted with Vintage Photo and while still damp, excess paint blotted off with a paper towel.

With the canvas now completed, I realized it needed something more and so a nice piece of cardboard was cut by removing the inset piece, which was not a fun thing at all. A little bit of crackle and stain was applied around the edges and all finished of with a piece of cheesecloth, twisted tightly and dyed. Talk about a chunk of junk becoming a pretty nice item!

Bathing Beauties Believe!

I hope this first day of April is finding you all well and happy! It is hard to believe we are already into April and that means summer should be fast approaching! And with summer around the corner, the Artistic Outpost's "Bathing Beauties" have a secret to share with all of you!

Got to love this sentiment from "Quotes and Quotables" and when I was looking at these lovely ladies, I thought what a fun combination!

The sentiment and bathing beauties were stamped in black Archival and heat seat. I also stamped the ladies a second time to make a mask.

After masking the ladies, I began to ink the manila card stock (cut to fix a large tag, which I painted black) with Distress inks, Broken China, Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy. A little bit of black paint was applied through one of Tim's stencils for a little extra interest!   Added a little subtle stamping in the background and of course had to flick on some good old water!

To finish the top of the tag, I inked over some cheesecloth and glued down some seashells. The "Believe" on Tim's key is also from "Quotes and Quotables" and cut to size. Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is "Anything Goes," so the girls are on their way there!
