Wings, anything with wings is the challenge at Gingersnap Creations this week! Doing this reminds me of my bird, Fred a Patagonia Conure! We will have him 23 years in August, which is old for this breed! He has developed large fatty cysts and surgery is out of the question due to his age and complications. All the dogs I have had, back away from this wonder beast! Many people wonder how he has managed to live that long, did I tell you he is mean and has a really bad attitude?? This bird does not look like my Fred, who is not very pretty with age!
Close up of the bird.
For the Tim Holtz Birdcage die, I used the Metallic Parchment technique from the April/May 2010 issue of the Technique Junkies Newsletter. Not much of the beauty of this tech shows up when you die cut a birdcage, but I liked the look! The bird is glittered with five different colors. The background papers are KC and have very subtle prints, which I wish you could see.
Here are some more things with wings I did in March.
The butterfly die is awesome and you can do so much with them. I have turned many into magnets and some made it to cards.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting! Wishing you all a safe and Happy 4th of July!

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge Week Three
This week at Linda's challenge we are playing with alcohol. The challenge is Alcohol Ink Monoprint. Now when I started this, I had "wings" on my mind to kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. Gingersnap Creations is having a wings challenge, but after I saw the end result, I had to go with the fishes! Maybe added a little to many images, but I could not help myself!
This was a really fun technique! Thanks for stopping by!

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge Week Two
Ok, so we played with Fragments over at Studio L3 and am not sure how we feel about those! After I started with one piece, I was determined to build around it. My feeling is that I should have quit and attempted another look!! Since it is Friday and I won't have time over the weekend to play - it is what it is!
The background (one from paper and backed with chipboard) is from the Technique Junkies current newsletter "Faux Metal." I did highlight the embossed areas with Opalites, one of my favorites inks for that purpose. Not sure if the highlighted areas will show up, because they are subtle. Used three of Tim Holtz Dies, one TH and one Cuttlebug embossing folders. The paper behind the fragments are from TH Lost and Found! "Fly" is from Innovative Stamp Creations.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Tag Tuesday Challenge #57 - - Postage
Another Tag Tuesday and this was an easy choice as to the postage to use. My DH gave me "create a stamp" postage gift and I knew I wanted a picture of my parents on the stamp. It was my way of sending them all over the country and to somehow keep their spirit always flying! The stamp is from I Brake for Stamps.
I used the Antique Glimmers from the Technique Junkies on the background of the stamped image. Here is an actual close up of the postage stamp. Thank you for stopping by for a visit!

Tag Tuesday Challenge #56 - MEN
This is my first "Tag Tuesday" challenge and I have been wanting to play for awhile. since the theme is "Men" and Father's Day is on Sunday, I thought why not make a tag!!! The "Sugar Daddy" actually was an idea that I got from a good friend, while we stopped by for a brief visit on Sunday. she "lovingly" referred to her husband as a "Sugar Daddy." those words stuck in my mind and I knew that I had to use them for my "Sugar Daddy," which are die cuts from Tim Holtz Sizzix Decorative Strip, Vintage Market. The letters were also embossed. The truck (applied with dimensionals) and gear (steering wheel) are also TH. The lower background stamp is from Stampin Up and I wanted the back and white garage floor look. I wish I had just masked it myself to achieve a smaller pattern print.
Oh, the picture is of my DH on our wedding day. Thanks for taking a look! It has been fun to play along.

I will say that this was a challenge to me, because I ran through about six samples and decided this was the last one! There is also a nice prize being offered by Daisy at Eclectic Paperie. Thank you Linda and Daisy!

GC55: Random Redhead - Quotes
Gingersnap Creations challenge ending today is "Quotes." This is such a fun group and I am so glad that I joined! This card was created based on the floral ribbon trim I purchased yesterday! I am not a ribbon type person, but when I saw this, I knew I had to use it. The background technique is from the current TJ Newsletter - Antique Wallpaper.
The waiting ladies is a stamp from Lost Coast Designs and the quote is from I Brake For Stamps.
I almost did not make the deadline, but here it is and thank you for taking a peek!

“Creative Writer” Blogger Award
I am one of the luckiest bloggers there could be! Not only did one fellow blogger present me with such a prestigious award, but two!
Here are the rules:
1) Express gratitude to the blogger who bestowed the award unto you!
Thank you Shar and Lynn! I am honored that you think so highly of my talents.
2) Display the picture on your blog proudly.
3) Be nice and provide a link to the person who gave it to you.
Sharon
Lynn
4) Tell up to six outrageous lies about yourself, and at least one outrageous truth, or switch it around and tell six outrageous truths and one outrageous lie.
5) Nominate seven creative writers who might be into doing this. Pass it on to Bloggers who make you smile, laugh, emote in some way or another and,
6) Post links to the seven blogs you nominate and let the owners of those blogs know:
Lisa
Gerrie
Connie
Hetty
Jan
Shelly
Michele
My seven truths or lies!
1) I certainly was not a fan of Lost. The show had absolutely no redeeming qualities and that Sawyer dude (Josh) did not float my boat! As a matter of fact, just looking at him made me realize what a hunk I am married to. Can you imagine his poor wife having to look at that face every day!
2) When it comes to fashion, I’m all over it baby! It is my belief that a woman should always look like a million bucks, even if she does not have a dollar to her name. There is no excuse for not having matching shoes and handbags for every outfit! And of course nails must always be well groomed and hair without a trace of gray!
3) It was my opinion that rubber stamping and playing with ink was like Kindergartner Art. Grown woman would not do such ridiculous stuff. I dreaded my first invite to a friend’s house for a workshop. Told my husband that it was such a waste of my Sunday!
4) Who are those people that throw away good money in the Stock Market? This is certainly not something I would ever do. I am not the type of person to take risks with money, because it does not grow on trees!
5) There are lies out there about my love of dogs! Just because I go by Terry2Dogs and have pictures of dogs on my blog, is kind of a stretch! Someone hacked into my blog account and changed my name and added the pictures! If I knew more about blogging, I would change my blog name to something like, Ill Tempered Ink or Trash to Treasures!
6) I do not have a sense of humor and am very easily offended. Never do I make wise cracks or come back abruptly with a response!
7) OMG – my craft room is always so tidy! I certainly should be given an award for organization, because I never have to go on the hunt to find an item. Everything in its place is my motto!
I sure hope all of you will be ok with me passing on this award to you! In one way or another, you all have touched my life or I thought you should be in the same boat with me!

GC56: Color Challenge - Burgundy, Ivory & Black
I needed a card for a graduation tomorrow and this is what I came up with. I used the Cuttlebug Highlights from the Technique Junkies Newsletter. Since Gingersnap Creations is also having a Burgundy, Ivory and Black challenge and her school colors are Burgundy and Gold, I tackled two birds with one stone. I cut out the cap using Bravo Burgundy paper from SU, highlighted the embossed area with gold. The diploma was cut from a scratch pad, sprayed with Glimmer Mist Gold and I shaded the edges with Bravo Burgundy SU ink and tied it with some gold thread. The Ivory envelop was sprayed with the Gold Glimmer Mist, flourish stamp and Alphabet/Number die is Tim Holtz.
Thanks for looking and have a delightful weekend!
